久々に来たBirdlandです。当日のミュージカルチケットを見せると
チャージが割引となります。１ドリンク込みで30USDが10USDになるの
ですからでかい。1杯飲んで10USDなら気楽にいけますね。私は
マンハッタンを頼みました。
店内はがらがらでした。バンドの構成はドラム、ベース、ピアノ。
でかいバンドよりもピュアでいいかも。
何も考えずにぼーっと音楽を聴いていたのでさして感想はありません。

GONZALO RUBALCABA
Havana born piano virtuoso Gonzalo Rubalcaba combines
a rich folk music lineage (his father, a "cha-cha-cha"
pioneer, still leads a popular ensemble in Cuba) with
the soul-searching quality of a modern jazz musician as
evidenced on Supernova, Rubalcaba's seventh recording for
the fabled jazz label, Blue Note Records. Rubalcaba covers
music ranging from "The Peanut Vendor," the first Cuban-US
pop crossover hit, to the widely played Cuban processional
"El Cadete," composed by his grandfather, to jazz standards,
all of which are filtered through stunning classical technique
and profound jazz lessons the pianist learned early in his career
while a member of bands led by Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Haden
among others.
